Define the liquid-barrier requirement
If the application needs a liquid barrier, describe the exposure and assessment method. A broad term such as waterproof should not replace acceptance criteria. Seams, needle holes and finished-product construction also matter where sewing is involved.
Check compatibility with converting
Test the sample with the proposed cutting, folding, sewing or welding process. Observe the surface, separation between layers and joint stability. Evaluate areas that will be folded or loaded under the conditions expected in use.
Specify the construction in the RFQ
Total basis weight does not fully describe a laminate. When comparing suppliers, align the backing, film, usable width and roll presentation. Send any application-specific technical requirements early so the available documentation can be discussed.
Frequently asked questions
Is laminated fabric the same as standard spunbond?
No. The added film means surface properties and converting behaviour must be assessed separately.
Can performance be confirmed from a photograph?
No. Photographs show appearance; functional properties require suitable samples, specifications and tests.
