Clarify whether the fabric is tensioned, stapled, sewn or bonded, whether it is visible and how it will be handled. An assembly photograph or component sample is more useful than the term sofa fabric alone. Include end-customer requirements from the start.

Softness, surface and compatibility with other layers can be important for bags, footwear and apparel. Trial the sample on the equipment in use to identify issues that hand inspection may miss.
Compare cost in actual production
Assess price per kilogram together with usable width, cutting waste and converting performance. A width that fits the cutting layout can reduce offcuts. Purchasing and production should compare the cost per acceptable finished item.
